  • 据东汉应劭《风俗通义》，周代有掌管音乐的官员称「师尹」，其后人便以官名为姓。[1][3]
  • 据《通志·氏族略》，古代的盲人乐工也称为「师」，因而有以之为姓的人。[1][4]
  • 晋代以后，有人为避讳而改姓「帅」。[1]
