据《后汉书·法雄传》所引，法姓是齐襄王的后人。原文为：「齐襄王法章之后。秦灭齐，子孙不敢称田姓，故以法为氏。」[1][2]
齐襄王名法章，属田氏。秦国灭齐之后，其子孙不敢再用“田”为姓，便以“法”为氏。[1]
